On November 13th, authorities were notified of an “unconscious person” at the King Road residence in Moscow, Idaho. Upon arriving, police discovered a gruesome scene as well as the deceased bodies of Maddie, Kaylee, Xana, and Ethan - all clearly victims of homicide.
The 911 call was placed at 11:58am from the roommates phone. The problem here is that by at least 9am, student group chats were buzzing with news of the homicides. And according to another source, students at neighboring campus WSU knew about the stabbings by 10am - still 2 hours before authorities were notified. What was going on for 3-3.5 hours and why did everyone on campus know before police?
It is against the law to disturb a crime scene, fail to promptly notify or delay notification, or intentionally prevent discovery of the manner of death. The latter of which is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in state prison and / or a $50,000 fine under Idaho law. (See Idaho Code Ch. 43 § 19-4301A).
