Flower farmer and florist Georgie Newbery of Common Farm Flowers suggests some great independent creators and makers to look at for Christmas present inspiration.
I have a virulent loathing for Black Friday and all the pressured commercialism this entails. I prefer slow shopping, considered spending, spending where the money will make a difference and support small businesses, creators and makers who invest the money spent on their products in their local community. So I hope this clip will inspire you to take time and spend your Christmas budget thoughtfully on gifts which might mean a little more, and cost a little less to the environment, and support a small business.
I am as susceptible to a good deal as the next person, but I love a carefully made something to give as a special gift, and would rather give something somehow less noisy and which might last longer and be more likely to turn into a treasure.
If I can inspire you to slow down with your Christmas shopping and take your time to find something which will mean more to the seller as well as to the recipient then happy days. And have bought every single thing I show you here so none of it is a freebie I'm under pressure to like more than I might if I had to pay for it.
