Dear Mum & Dad,
Mum, I know you won't see these words until you are in paradise but I feel somehow you will hear me. Parkinson's may have robbed you of 15 years of your life, but I know you are strong. You have fought off so much. I know you are there. You will be thinking about your grandchildren, wondering when we will pop in next. You will be ready to have a go at me again for not recording you the album of me singing I've been promising you. I know when all this is over, I will hold you in my arms again and see you smile at all of us.
[writing this edit 4years on and nearly two years after your passing mum, that's exactly what you did]
Dad, You and mum gave me music. I have a million memories of hearing you both sing. So many songs. I know mum is a massive fan of Elvis and in my opinion, this is the best song he ever did. So I do this for you. For both of you. Because it means to much to me. The words. Mum, thank you for putting the music in me. And dad, thank you for giving me the passion and the power. The words IF I CAN DREAM reminds me of you. You taught me to NEVER give up. And I won't. As long as I can DREAM, I'll be singing the song. Feeling the love and aiming HIGH! I am the luckiest girl in the world because I have you both in my blood.
Thank you
Your loving daughter,
Kyra Bernice Firth
