Vattapam ( Not the sweet version, just that i wanted to try it savoury with some kheem and paneer curry ). This is traditionally had as an evening snack or rather i would say , have it more sweet by adding sugar to it and reduce the salt in it.
Raw rice - 2 cups soaked for 4 hrs or overnight
Aval / Poha/ Flatten rice - 4 tbsp
Coconut - 1 cup
Activated yeast / Instant yeast - 1 tsp
Salt
Sugar - 1 cup Activated- if your preparing the sweet version
Ghee - to spread on the plate
Had beef kheema in my freezer. To be honest, kheema and vattpam dorsnt match well unlike vellappam , but I prepared aome paneer curry for me and had it with the Vattappam. My husband bought some Kerala Porotta which is just delicious to have with kheema. So their tummy was soulfully satisfied.
Marrow/Khoosa (optional ) - 4
Oil - 3-4 tbsp
Curry keaves
Onion - 2 medium
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Kashmiri red chili powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tap
Normal chilli powder - 1 tsp
Beef or mutton kheema/minced meat - 500gm
Tomato - 1 medium
Green chillies - 2-3
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Kasoori methi - 2 pinch
Curd - 1 cup
Ginger juliennes - a few
Green chili- 2-3
Salt
