Imee Marcos is a Filipino politician and the eldest daughter of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos and former First Lady Imelda Marcos. Imee has had a long political career, serving in various government positions. She is currently a senator in the Philippines, having been elected in 2019. Before that, she was the governor of Ilocos Norte from 2010 to 2019 and a congresswoman from 1998 to 2007.
She is known for her strong support of her family's legacy and has been involved in controversies regarding issues related to her family's wealth and alleged human rights violations during her father’s rule. Despite this, she remains a popular political figure in the Philippines, particularly in her home province of Ilocos Norte.
Before entering politics, Imee Marcos was involved in the entertainment industry as a producer. She co-founded Experimental Cinema of the Philippines (ECP) in the early 1980s, during her father Ferdinand Marcos' presidency. ECP was a government-backed film agency that aimed to produce high-quality Filipino films and promote the local film industry. She continued to support the film and television industry through various projects. She has been credited as a producer or executive producer for some films and TV shows in the Philippines.
