A huge chessboard frames the main square of Marostica (Vicenza) in the Veneto region, northern Italy. But nothing is there by chance, as a live chess game actually took place in medieval times, which continues to be celebrated to this day in even-numbered years, during the month of September. The city also has beautiful buildings in the best style of the region, as well as an inviting nature, with trails and leisure spaces. Andiamo!
