From design to 3D model to reality - building an Infinity Cube.
Inspired by https://everythingmetalandwood.com/projects/infinity-cube-table/
This is a great project for practicing welding and keeping joints flat and square, plus get a cool piece of furniture at the end of it - I'm still learning, but I'm very happy with the result.
The glass is also completely level with the top frame, so things can sit flat all the way to the edges.
Something I wanted to know before making this, but couldn't find out is: how much flex does it have, since there is no direct support to the ground? Well, I can stand on any corner of the top (umm...110kg). Although it does flex a bit and feel a little springy, it does not permanently deform. In short, it is strong, but not rock solid - more than adequate for anything that you might put on a glass table.
If I did it again I'd get safety (toughened) glass. Although I think the 12mm normal glass is probably pretty strong, I'd be nervous about sitting on it. I'd also clean and bevel the edges before welding - some of the welds were a little dirty looking, although they all looked ok when ground back... nobody's life depends on these, and I was just a little impatient to get going.
Took about 4 hours in total, over a few days.
