This clip looks at how clay bodies are affected by their contents, beginning with the three primary ingredients in clay, (alumina, silica, and water), and including additives such as iron, ball clay, and grog. It also looks at the stages clay goes through as it changes in moisture content and is fired (slip, slurry, plastic, leather, green, bisque, mature). Characteristics of each stage are considered.
