Sequels are hard. Apparently. MF GHOST is the sequel series to initial D but you wouldn't know that by looking at it. It has some of the same characters and references events from initial D and has eurobeat music, but make no mistake, this is just some weird perverted cartoon for maniacs that makes no sense at literally any point. MF GHOST has tricked an entire generation into eating slop with a smile on their face because they apparently forgot they can just watch initial D to get that "le nostalgia" like initial D still exists it didn't go anywhere, it's also better in literally every single way. At least first through third stage are better. Fourth is alright. Fifth and final are awful but still better I think. MF GHOST is the next in a long line of lazy sequels that forget what made the original magic in the first place and can barely stack up to something made with 1998 computers. I hate to be such a "the 90s were better" contrarian whiner especially since I was born in 2000, but when everything from the art style to the music and sound effects/design and animation and cinematography and composition and plot was better in a series from 25 years ago, I think I have the right to be disappointed. Instead of using the gifts of the future to go even further beyond and making even crazier stuff, we've used to become even lazier. Also this anime is really gross and perverted. It'll make you feel like a bad person if you watch it. And you probably are. You know an anime is awesome when you have to research Japanese age of consent and legal adulthood laws to understand if a major plot element is pure evil or not. https://twitter.com/GhoulCityOnline
