Video Not Working? Fix It Now

We’re reviewing the largest Intel NUC yet -- the Beast Canyon NUC. It has some good engineering and some bad engineering, and ultimately, the value risks tanking the product.

This review of the Intel Beast Canyon NUC 11 Extreme (NUC11BTMi9) tests its performance in a similar price class to some $2000 (ish) pre-builts. We look at thermals, noise, fan curve, BIOS settings, case and mechanical design, gaming benchmarks, and more for the NUC 11 Extreme. The fan curve has some really screwy behavior and Intel has complicated it in ways that don't pan-out well, the top cuts wireless cables (but Intel has told us it is working on fixing this), but the overall design is actually very good. Mechanically, the engineers have done good work on the box, and we're impressed with that. Value is suspect at best, however, which is maybe the nature of a low production volume product with highly custom parts.
