TNO published a report about their research concerning 'Towards a sovereign digital future' where TNO provides an overview of the level of digital sovereignty for Europe and the Netherlands based on the various digital technology layers of a stack model.
The Netherlands must join Europe in a firm commitment to digital sovereignty. This means having control over the design and use of digital systems, algorithms, and data processing. This will make us less dependent on big tech giants in the US or China and give us more control over the further development of technologies. Europe could even lead the way internationally by further strengthening our position in areas such as quantum technology and 6G.
