Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Welcome to my channel! In this video, I cover the basics of the medieval textile handicraft called Fingerloop Braiding. In medieval days, these sturdy, elegant braids were used in many different ornamental and practical applications as lacing, trim, straps, drawstrings, etc, mainly on clothing and accessories. Many patterns from the simple to the ornate have been preserved in manuscripts created in the late medieval era through the Renaissance. Join me as I cover the basic information that you’ll need to know to get started (materials, moves, terminology, etc) and lead us through two simple medieval braiding patterns: the Broad Lace and the Lace Rounde. If you’d like to dive deeper into these wonderful braids, join me on Patreon where I’ve just shared a tutorial for creating four gorgeous, ornate medieval braids! Membership starts at $3/month, and gives you access to exclusive monthly episodes full of historical music, cookery, craft, story, and more.
