John Clem (Michael Stasko) travels north to uncover the mystery behind his estranged father’s disappearance. Arriving at the family cottage, he encounters Avery (Ray Wise), his father’s colleague, who offers no answers—only a new perspective on the world around him. As Avery shares details of their work on an iodine-based water purification project, the two form an unexpected bond over environmental concerns and philosophical debates. But as John struggles with his own insecurities and the isolation of his surroundings, pressure from his family mounts, pushing him toward an emotional breakdown and leaving him questioning whether he can truly trust Avery.
