Week 8 of 12 of the iRacing DIRTcar Limited Late Model series presented by BlueDEF brings us to the sunshine state of Florida, and Volusia Speedway.
As you can see, we opted to run a non-conventional set-up and line during hot laps to help work in the high line and get a feeling for the car in the later stages of the actual race, this proved to come to our advantage during qualifying as we set a blistering lap and were the only car to hit a 15.9 second lap and secured the pole in the top split for the 30 lap A-Main.
From the drop of the green to the checkered the car was on rails again thanks to the teams at Midwest Customs and Midwest Speed Shop for the awesome set-up that let us pull away early and never look back.
This is a tough track to predict what is going to happen during the race, some times the bottom slicks off, sometimes the top is the dominant line, and this time the middle was where it was at early, then slowly moved up the track as the race went on.
In the end unsure if it was me just not pushing the car as much, track conditions, or if 2nd place had a quicker car at the end, but he was able to cut a 2.2 second lead down to 1.2 seconds by race end and may have been a contender had the race been about 10 or so laps longer.
This is our teams 5th win of the season in our division and 4th pole of the season.
Week 9 will take us to the iconic Limaland Speedway in Ohio, followed by week 10 at the always tough Lincoln Speedway, then week 11 has us going to the "SHOW ME" state to hopefully put on another show at Lucas Oil Speedway in Missouri, followed by the week 12 season championship event at the always entertaining Kokomo Speedway in Indiana.
