The fortunes of Gold Road were fleeting, and by the 1940s, the town was abandoned and razed to the ground.
Despite being wiped off the map, Gold Road was briefly revived in the 1990s, only to close again as gold prices plummeted. Today, the remnants of this once-bustling town still remain hidden within the Arizona desert, blending into the landscape and serving as a silent testament to the highs and lows of the Gold Rush era.
