Is film photography still worth it in 2024? That really is my question of the day. After the initial resurgence of film photography back in 2022, many new enthusiasts are now moving to the early digital cameras of the early 2000s - your mom and dad's point-and-shoot. No surprise. Film photography, as aesthetically pleasing as it is, takes more work, more patience, more funding, and more care - all of which are lacking in today's social media space.
So you might be wondering, should you still be shooting film in 2024? Or should you start shooting film for the first time in 2024? In this video, I want to spend our time opening the discussion while out on location shooting my Chamonix F2 4x5 large format film camera. Talk about a camera that takes work, patience, funding, and care. It being a view camera, there are so many creative possibilities along with a few major limitations. (Everything is manual, so no autofocus, auto exposure, metering guides, etc.)
