Video Not Working? Fix It Now

This video discusses social media’s impact on the accessibility of Animation because I was tasked with creating a video essay for the first time for a university project. Diving into the way historically that people have had access to entertainment and animation in comparison to the modern world of streaming and social media where animation is at most of our fingertips. Touching on the negative impact that studios and streaming services have had on the animation industry and how that has fuelled the current rise in independent animation.

Using examples of successful independent animated shows such as Lackidaisy to emphasis social media’s role in crowdfunding a diverse range of animated projects, I am able to analyse the effects of social media on the accessibility of animation today in comparison to the past and what that could mean for the future. However, Social media is not perfect and its complex algorithms are creating a barrier in the accessibility of animation.

This is my first time creating a video essay and I have gained a lot of respect for those who do it professionally, I hope you enjoy!
