The 150 Series Prado was finally replaced in 2024 but it didn’t go out with a whimper, this faithful and basic 4x4 still suited the needs of many Australians thanks to its impressive list of talents.

Toyota’s new 250 Series Prado has impressed many with its all-new chassis bringing greatly improved driving dynamics and its huge step up in tech but it’s not without its faults, with areas such as practicality a key point of criticism in our initial review.

So has the 250 Series Land Cruiser Prado actually moved the game forward or does the 150 Series still hold strong ground for a much lower cost on the used market.

To find out we pitted two Prados in the popular GXL specification head to head to decide if this is really the upgrade we’ve all been waiting for.
