In this tutorial, we're going to check out Waves Curves Equator, the new Waves plugin that may just be the best alternative to Soothe 2 from Oeksound.
Don't get me wrong - I've been using Soothe 2 to mix vocals and other instruments for awhile, but it can be expensive and cost prohibitive to some. While its definitely a great resonance suppression tool, it's a lot of money and there are other players out in the market now.
That leads a lot of mixers to searching for a Soothe 2 plugin alternative that doesn't break the bank. Look no further - this new plugin from Waves might just be it.
Join me as I explore two different ways I'd use Curves Equator in a mix, first being directly on a vocal to clean up problematic resonances, and later in sidechain mode to create space between the vocal and instrumental.
