Craig L. Byrd of Cultural Attaché (www.culturalattache.co) talks to Isata and Sheku Kanneh-Mason, two rising stars in the classical music world. They are also siblings.
Isata plays the piano and Sheku the cello. The two launch a US/Canada recital tour on April 19th where they will perform works by Frank Bridge, Benjamin Britten and Dimitri Shostakovich. Their fourth piece will either be a work by Beethoven or Karen Khachaturian depending on which city they are performing.
In this conversation the Kanneh-Masons discuss their approach to recital repertoire, how their relationship to the material evolves over time and the surprising topicality of the program they put together more than a year ago.
They are utterly charming, enormously talented and wise beyond their young years. Fans of classical music won't want to miss this interview.
