This video will explore Istio’s Ambient Service Mesh in great detail. This is the new version of Istio’s Service Mesh which is still in development. Its most important feature is that it doesn’t use sidecars to implement mesh functionality. We will start by describing what Service Mesh is, followed by a detailed discussion of Istio’s sidecar-based Service Mesh architecture. We will then dive into the Ambient Service Mesh’s sidecar-less architecture and discuss its benefits. We will also demo how to install the Ambient Service Mesh in a cluster hosted in Kind and will demo its various functions and features.
