It was sad to see Shammi Kapoor die | Mumtaz | Dilip Kumar | Jeetendra | Akshay Kumar | Dev Anand | Part 1 Presenting Part 1 from the latest edition of Radio Nasha Film Club with the legendary actress Mumtaz Ji in conversation with RJ Divya Solgama. The chat begins with Mumtaz talking about her painful childhood when she had to work in order to feed her family, despite her mother’s death. She later shared a special memory related to Lata Mangeshkar, where she used to go and watch movies as a child and sleep in the lap of Lata Ji. She also shared that Asha Bhosle finds one of her songs the most difficult song she has sung in her entire life. Mumtaz spoke about entering into movies at the age of 15 as a heroine opposite Dara Singh in all those B-Grade action movies followed by item songs and guest appearances. Mumtaz openly exposed the heroes of that time who refused to work with her when she was doing movies with Dara Singh. Mumtaz thanked Mehmood for recommending her reel to Dilip Kumar who was looking for a second heroine in his film ‘Ram Aur Shyam’. She also thanked Dilip Kumar for agreeing to work with her and how Dilip Kumar supported her throughout the film. She also spoke about how the film industry started to look up to her and change their behavior as now she was a Dilip Kumar heroine. Mumtaz shared about her first film as a solo heroine opposite Jeetendra in ‘Boond Jo Ban Gaye Moti’, where initially Jeetendra had refused to work with her. She later spoke about the iconic orange saree she wore in the song ‘Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyaar’ from the movie ‘Brahmachari’, which was her idea to add it in the song at the last moment. Mumtaz confessed about her love for Shammi Kapoor and it was he who proposed to her. She also updated that due to this romance she had to leave Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Mera Naam Joker’ as the Kapoor’s did not allow females from their families to work in movies after marriage. Mumtaz got highly emotional and cried while talking about her last meeting with Shammi Kapoor in a party just before he died. She later spoke about her working experience with Rajesh Khanna in ‘Do Raaste’ followed by health and lifestyle tips by Dev Anand to look young and beautiful. She also shared her daily exercise and diet plan along with workout tips from Akshay Kumar.
