In celebration of the “Japan-UK Season of Culture”, running from 2019 to 2020, the Japan Foundation is honoured to present a performance of Iwami Kagura (literally meaning ‘entertaining the gods’) at the London Japan Matsuri, a festival of Japanese culture. Iwami Kagura is a fast, exciting, colorful and dynamic local dance-theatre from the northwestern part of Shimane Prefecture in a locality between Shimane Prefecture and Hiroshima Prefecture in Japan. This unforgettable kind of masked dance-theatre is unlike anything you have seen before.
