(New Zealand) JA 1271 has hauled the River City Express into Whanganui and while its passengers are off sight seeing, the trains' consist is being used on a short excursion for locals along the Whanganui Town Branch.

The opening shot is of the locomotive backing onto its train at Whanganui Yard. The old white painted wooden goods wagon was entered into service in 1966 and withdrawn in 1986. The locomotive is serviced before departing for the 5km run 'down' the Town Branch on Train EO3. The next scene has the train rounding the curve on Victoria Ave at St Johns.
Over at East Town the loco is run around its train that is sitting on the main. Following this, the train departs tender-first for downtown Whanganui as Train EO4, rolling across the Whanganui River (Bridge No'25 Marton - New Plymouth Line)
The train curves around a sharp 1989 deviation and crawls slowly into the 3-road Whanganui Yard where the locals get off and buses return the trains original passengers to take them back to Paekakariki.
JA 1271 was built in New Zealand and introduced into service in April 1956. It had only a short working life before the diesel - electrics took over, being withdrawn in November 1971.
