해금과 바이올린, 피아노를 위한 협주곡 “소리 그림자(韻影) No. 2” /

2003년 이후 두 번째 작품 “소리그림자 2”는 우리 음악의 과거와 현재의 모습을 서로 비춰보려는 의도에서 이루어졌다.
우리 전통악기 해금은 세계적으로도 가장 오랜 악기로서 옛 모습을 그대로 간직하고 있어 귀하다. 이에 비하면, 바이올린은 해금의 후손으로서 오랜 세월을 거쳐서 마침내 세계화에 도달한 악기라 하겠다. 다행히도 우리는 이 두 소리를 함께 즐길 수 있는 시점에 살고 있다.
이 두 소리의 어우러짐은 과연 어떤 모습일까?
이것을 이루려는 것이 바로 내 소망이다.
과거의 귀중함이 이 시대에서 다시 살아나고, 이 현 시대와 함께 아름답게 어우러지기를 바라는 마음 간절하다.

Today’s violin is quite far from its origin as a number of innovations have taken place for the past hundreds of years, whereas the haegeum has kept its sound and shape for more years than the violin.
Then, what would it be like to get these two fiddles together and find their musical connection? Performing in unison, I eagerly desire to revive the preciousness of bygone days and thus to serve as a bridge for the past and the present to harmonize beautifully.
