Long Dream by Junji Ito and The Jaunt by Stephen King have both kept me up on so many nights, not just because they're terrifying, but also because of how thought provoking they are. As two of the finest short stories ever created, I had to cover them in depth, and I hope you will enjoy. I tried my best to do Junji Ito and Stephen King's masterful works justice :)
Long Dream is undoubtedly one of the finest works of existential horror ever crafted, but to discuss it without also diving into The Jaunt would be an absolute crime. These two stories ask the question "What if the human mind were stretched beyond an infinite horizon?" In some sense, these two stories also touch on the realm of cosmic horror, madness, and the ultimate fear of the unknown.
