Kaaji revolves around the lives of a young widow Lakshmi and her son Manja, who belong to the Scheduled Caste community in a distant village in Karnataka. Spun into the world of discrimination, the film explores the compassionate bond of a mother and son amidst the brokenness of their lives. It gives us a glimpse of their daily routines and how discrimination wasn't seen as something unusual as it was the norm. The story draws parallels between the lives of the upper the caste and lower caste communities in the 21st century, through subtle nuances and customs followed in the village.
