Episode 14 "Janmashtami Special" Namaste we are Shirish and Pooja and Welcome to our New episode of @RedSoilStories Janmashtami, a Hindu festival celebrating the birth (janma) of the god Krishna on the eighth (ashtami) day of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada (August–September). The number eight has another significance in the Krishna legend in that he is the eighth child of his mother, Devaki. It is the day when people start their preparation for the celebration of the Lord Krisha's birth. According to the legends, Lord Krishna was the incarnation of Vishnu, who was born in dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada in Mathura. Krishna Janmashtami, also known simply as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. This occasion is celebrated differently in diiferent parts of India. Here in Maharashtra specially in kokan region it is celebrated by preparing "Aambolya" आंबोळी a fried flat bread of fermented rice flour, " Kalya vatanyache sambar/usal" ( Black peas Curry ) and "Shevgyachya Panachi Bhaji" ( Moringa leaves Sabji ). Sweet Rice Pudding (Tandalachi Kheer ) is also prepared. Pooja started preparing for Amboli early in the morning. She made the batter ready and Kept for fermentation. By the afternoon the batter was fermented. Before preparing Ambolya prepare "Usal" and " Bhaji". Before everything else did you watch how Pooja was dreaming about the "Krishna" in his child form?
