THIS OLD VIDEO IS FOR ADDITIONAL INSIGHT AND LEARNING
Karen Armstrong, born November 14 1944 in Wildmoor, Worcestershire, England, spent time as a teenager as a devotee of God in a monastery. While at the monastery she received Christian education as a nun.
Her persistence in her activities and studies at the monastery made Armstrong recommended to study English literature at Oxford, USA. However, later she broke away from her service as a nun. Armstrong studied as a Catholic nun for 7 years. She entered the monastery at the age of 17.
Her study of Judaism, Islam, and Orthodox Christianity showed her that there were many things she had never encountered in the monotheistic traditions that she could truly understand. Armstrong always tried to present monotheistic religions in a threefold vision by trying to see all three as legitimate paths to God. This is where she studied religious knowledge until she became famous in the field of religion, not English literature.
