Kasparas Jakucionis has displayed remarkable poise in the clutch early in his freshman season. The Lithuanian guard has scored 20+ points in six straight games, consistently making timely, strategic plays for the Illini—whether in the pick-and-roll, hitting stepback 3s, as a passer, or with his craft in the lane, where he's deliberate with angles and often first to initiate contact.
Through 14 games, Jakucionis is averaging 16.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.5 assists while shooting 42% from three for 11-3 Illinois, with wins over Arkansas, Wisconsin, and Oregon. The FC Barcelona product has emerged as an early riser and will demand plenty of attention from scouts as Big Ten play ramps up in January.
