The star of Lee, a biopic about the fashion photographer turned world war II reporter, Lee Miller, visits BFI Southbank to talk about the making of the film.
Ellen Kuras’ powerful drama details Lee Miller’s journey as an artist and photographer who would chronicle the worst moments of the Second World War for Vogue magazine. Winslet embodies her subject in a performance of breathtaking range, which journeys from from her combative first encounter with future husband, the artist Roland Penrose, to her witnessing the liberation of the German concentration camps and the iconic photograph of her in Hitler’s bath. A stellar support cast and steely direction by former cinematographer Kuras should make Lee a film worthy of its extraordinary subject.
