In this interview, Kathryn Harris, who began reenacting Harriet Tubman in the late 1990s, brings to life the experiences of Tubman as a ‘conductor’ on the antebellum Underground Railroad. Harris details how Tubman risked her life and freedom over a decade, making numerous trips to lead enslaved individuals to freedom in the North. Harris has portrayed Tubman many times for both adult and children’s groups. At the end of the interview, she reflects on how this role has profoundly impacted her life.
