Kheema Unde has its roots back in western Karnataka but it’s one of the prime delicacies in the Saavji style, saoji or the khandeshi of making mutton and many non-vegetarian dishes. Saavji meat recipes have a great cult following across urban and rural Maharashtra. There will be many styles of making the Kheema balls curry but this one was a gift to me by my mother-in-law who hailed from Solapur and the recipe dates back in the 1970s.
