The Bluebell Railway's Keep Up The Pressure Campaign is shortly to move on to raise funds for the boiler overhaul of this classic Southern Railway locomotive. The Maunsell Locomotive Society has been working hard to raise the money for "Stowe" over recent years, and are funding much of the other work.
However, the cost of Stowe's boiler refurbishment is the most expensive of all the boilers we are currently doing, estimated at £250,000.
This video explains what is involved in the overhaul of "Stowe" . The work is similar (but not exactly the same) on all locomotives being overhauled so also gives a good introduction to the appeal in general.
