We love KEF speakers...so much that our Project Manager Mark bought some. He could go with any brand but he opted for KEF. With Mark in mind, we decided to focus our next Product Spotlight on KEF with this KEF speaker review!
In this video, we focus specifically on the KEF Q950 tower speakers. Almost all of the Kef "Q" series speakers will share the Uni-Q driver which plays a huge part in giving KEF their characteristic sound and imaging.

01:14 KEF technology
05:00 Music demos
10:28 KEF vs Martin Logan
13:10 KEF pros and cons
The music we used for the demos was:
"To Zion" by Lauryn Hill
"Fly Me To The Moon" by Frank Sinatra
"Keith Don't Go" by Nils Lofgren
"Homeless" by Paul Simon
Pros and cons of KEF Q950 speakers:
Pros:
Imaging: The way these things would throw sound and paint a picture in front of us was really incredible. In "Fly Me To the Moon" by Frank Sinatra, his voice was dead center during playback. In fact, it sounded exactly like it was coming from the center channel...which wasn't on.
Bass response: Good full bass out of the speakers. We are almost always proponents of full-range speakers, even when you are using subwoofers. See out earlier blog article about "Large vs Small speaker set-up" for details.
Clarity: KEF's Uni-Q drivers really aid in providing clarity and detail in vocals. See our "KEF success story" later in the video.
Cons:
Big: Dollar-for-dollar, bigger speakers almost always sound better than small ones. However, they can be harder to hide if you don't have the room or the aesthetic desire for big, box speakers.
Forward sound: The sound is a little forward or harsh. This could be offputting for some. P.S. It wasn't for any of us.
