I started relearning this piece to get the chordal juices flowing and subsequently decided to re-upload a video with tabs.
You'll have to pay attention to the repeats, especially where multiple measures are split over two pages. I had to pick a set aspect ratio working on mobile and crop accordingly. This was actually a nightmare to make in InShot for that reason but here we are.
As the title suggests, the prelude revolves around the use of arpeggiated open strings chords. Playing around an open string can create interesting overtones/resonance, or droning, and you can get some interesting permutations/intervals that would otherwise be difficult to fret and have ring out.
Key changes are harder to accomplish because you are limited by the amount of strings on the guitar and how they harmonize but I aimed for more movement and more of a droning quality. I particularly like the long, descent with stretchy chords (4-6-10-0 is hard) and its very deliberate, almost stubborn harmony. I think it contrasts nicely to the upper registers before the close of the piece. There is also a short section left open for improvisation, where I opted for a pretty low key flourish.
I apologize for the sound quality. This is probably 10 years old now and would really benefit from a proper recording. There is a ton of room for improvement in the playing, which could be more dynamic, colorful, and I think the piece needs some rubato to differentiate the shifts in temperament. At the time I recorded this with a very digital tone and it did more to muddy the sound than anything but it's passable with some headphones. Maybe I'll arrange this differently, or record it on an acoustic in the future.
