Sandeep Dikshit, senior Congress leader and the party's challenger to Arvind Kejriwal, has framed the upcoming Delhi Assembly election as a battle between the "Sheila Dikshit Model" on one side versus the governance model followed by the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP.
In an hour long conversation with Rahul Shrivastava, Sandeep Dikshit spoke on a range of issues including his childhood memories of Indira Gandhi and how Arvind Kejriwal once spent a week in his office to observe the work of an elected representative.
He believes the ongoing Delhi election campaign is a chance to demand answers from those who made "unfounded allegations" against his mother Sheila Dikshit, who was the chief minister of Delhi for 15 years.
He regrets the Congress decision to support Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party to form its first government in Delhi in December 2013. But he also backed the Congress move to fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Delhi in alliance with the AAP.
Sandeep Dikshit revealed he too had been approached by the BJP to join their party. He called the feelers from the BJP "a genuine political activity".
