Since its inception in 1975 by a band of ardent and enthusiastic lovers of arts, Kartik Fine Arts, a sabha devoted to the development of fine arts, has been striving hard to keep alive its motto of providing sumptuous variety of programmes for the middle class people of the society at affordable rates.
Dr. Raja Sir Muthiah Chettiar and Padmabhushan Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer graced the grand inaugural ceremony held on 13th April, 1975 at R.R. Sabha. Smt. Radha and Jayalakshmi offered musical tribute to the Almighty while Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman & Shri G.J.R. Krishnan with Shri Vellore Ramabadran on Mridangam and Shri Vinayakram on ghatam gave the inaugural concert. Shri Cho. S. Ramaswamy and Shri K. Balachander offered felicitations.
The sabha has grown in leaps and bounds in the following years. Shri A.V.S. Raja succeeded Shri T. T. Vasu as President, in the year 1989 under the commendable aegis of whom the sabha scaled new heights. Kartik Fine Arts stole the maximum limelight and exceptional public accolade in 1996 when Shri L. Sabaratnam adorned the post of Chairman of the Sabha.
Our own chamber music hall named after Sri. R.Rajagopal as "Kartik Rajagopal Hall" on the 1st floor of the administration Office building, where small music concerts and discourses are being held.
Kartik Fine Arts is recognizing the merits and talents of both the young and old musicians by conferring titles, presenting them with cash awards and exquisite mementos every year during the festival season.
