Brakes, yeah they won't help you go fast, but man they defiantly will save your ass in a hurry when you need it to. Especially when using the front brake. It's good practice to check your brake pads for wear ever so often and even a good idea to check your brake rotor once in a while to see if it has any warp or grooves dug into it. A good way to indicate if it need replaced is if you can put your finger nails in the grooves.
