in celebration, here's a compilation of relatable moments from koisenu futari ("a couple without falling in love"), a show featuring two canonically aroace characters: sakuko kodama and satoru takahashi!
synopsis: sakuko never experienced romantic feelings in her life; one day, a supermarket clerk takahashi tells her that there some people do not fall in love, and later she hears the words "aromantic asexual" for the first time.

koisenu futari isn't officially translated into english, but you can find information on how to watch it with fansubs here https://www.thewanderingace.tumblr.com/post/676831627654135808 and here https://www.reddit.com/r/KoisenuFutari/comments/su1zf6. otherwise, I wouldn't mind streaming it on discord for anyone who wants to watch; just comment your user and I'll friend you. it's a great show that provides really interesting takes on society's view of romance and the idea of love (romantic, platonic, familial) in general. you don't need to be aroace to enjoy it, but if you're on the spectrum like myself, you'll be especially charmed by the show's representation. unlike most media depictions of aromantics, the characters aren't portrayed as idiots/unknowledgeable on love or emotionless, and most importantly, their aromanticism isn't their defining personality trait. the show also acknowledges that being aroace is a spectrum, with both the main leads and side characters falling on various ends of said spectrum. tldr, watch the show. there are so many more things I could say about it, but you should experience it for yourself.
(if you are planning to watch, be warned there is a scene featuring implied r/pe in episode 3, but it isn't extremely plot relevant and can be skipped.)
