Koonde ki Niyaz is a ritual observed by some Muslims, particularly in the Indian subcontinent, on 22nd Rajab. This day is considered significant in Islamic calendar as it is believed to be the birthday of Imam Jaffar Sadiq as, the sixth Imam of Muslims.
The ritual of Koonde ki Niyaz involves the distribution of sweet bread or cookies, known as "koonday", among the faithful. However, the ritual has become a point of contention between Shia and Sunni Muslims, with each community having its own interpretation and practice of the ritual.
Some Shia Muslims observe Koonde ki Niyaz as a way of celebrating the birthday of Imam Jaffar Sadiq as and seeking his blessings. They believe that the ritual is a way of showing devotion and respect to the Imam and his family.
On the other hand, some Sunni Muslims have raised objections to the ritual, arguing that it is an innovation (bid'ah) and has no basis in Islamic tradition. They claim that the ritual is not supported by any authentic Hadith or Islamic text.
