Well, this. . . is. . . AMAZING. Here's a pretty special item, a new WML "extra" of sorts (in that Steve Allen is included, not to mention Groucho). This is an hour-long panel discussion on comedy with Groucho, Steve Allen and Carl Reiner (indisputably three of the great comic geniuses of the 20th century), and unlike anything I've ever heard before. Recorded on June 26, 1960 for national public radio station KPFK in L.A. and hosted by George Fenneman, in between all the great wisecracks are some legitimately interesting insights from everyone, even Groucho. No surprise to get interesting insights from the likes of Steve Allen, but Groucho rarely spoke with any seriousness or sincerity on any topic!
I don't have any more information about this show to offer; this is really all I know about the recording. If anyone has more info, I'd be very interested to know.
There's a cursory slideshow of photos to accompany the video, but this isn't really my area of expertise. The audio is the important thing here. Quite a unique, funny, and fascinating recording.
