bibi vengeance is a song i’ve loved since it came out and it hold so much significance to me. from the empowering feeling and intense emotions the song evokes, to the huge gotham show vibes the music video gave off, to the perfectly fitting choreography (we love hook), bibi vengeance is a whole masterpiece and a half, and although i didn’t have much hope, part of me wanted to be able to cover it one day. not only that, but after watching bibi’s mama 2022 performance, i wondered how combining the live performance and music video choreographies would turn out (watch the whole cover to find out!) and wished to be able to do it myself.
it still feels unreal that i was able to do a solo cover, let alone do one of a female artist. as someone whose forte is covering cool swaggy boygroup dances, it’s a lot more difficult for me to attempt the opposite. but after doing quite a lot of girlstyle these past few months, i felt that it was the right time to make slf.r vengeance happen. i hope i was still able to pull it off well and hope it isn’t the last of this specific slf.r.
thank you so so much to all my friends involved in this project — to caro, clara, codi, denise, jack, jeriel, joojoo, joon, pat and yutong who danced with me, contributed a lot of their time and effort, and supported me throughout this project and in making it happen. to the girls did 100x more dancing than me and worked so hard since day one. to the 4js who pulled this off with one singular prac and completed my vision for this cover. to pierre who filmed this cover so well and captured my ending fairy and also a core memory (iykyk). to jeriel who helped me edit and bring my vision to life, and also helped me run and push through the project. to my friends who came and supported us at filming. to caro who randomly texted the mav chat on new year’s eve last year suggesting i should do this as a solo, unknowingly pushing my year-long mental agenda. and lastly to maverick, for giving me the opportunity and safe space to carry out my solo. slf.r vengeance would not have happened without you guys. i love and appreciate you guys with all my heart.
