Rain began falling across metro Los Angeles and elsewhere in Southern California on Wednesday as a potent storm system moved into the region, raising the possibility of mudslides in areas ravaged by recent wildfires. The first storm is lighter and will move on quickly while the second, stronger storm, is expected to hit the region on Thursday.
