UPDATE 2024-09-27
30.000km KTM 890 SMT Service:
My SMT has been at the dealer for exact 3 weeks.
Replacements under warranty (at least I do hope so):
- windshield replacement,
- start switch replacement,
- thermostat sealing
On me:
- 30k service
- clutch plates
- chain and sprocket
- brake fluid
invoice total of 1600,- EUR
Things they noticed:
1. I asked for fotos of cam shafts. (I got a picture of two of those parts in question - I don't know the name in English) To me it looks like there is some wear, but according to the dealer cam shaft wear looks within normal limits (as directed by KTM) and do not need to be replaced..
2. At some point they think the engine overheated massively. Reason unkown. I never saw a hot engine light/warning. But they found resedue of obvious overheating inside and outside of the engine..
3. they also found some dirt/contamination inside the air intake and excessive wear on the valve probably caused by fine sand. So they said the valve fittings look bothersome and they suggested to have another look after 5-10.000 km.. Easy to say for a workshop.. Not so fun for the user when you have to pay ~1000,- EURs just to check on the valves..
Not sure what to do with this info therefore..
Let's see how the next 15k go..
