Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to the 1300 block of north Highland Avenue for a reported structure fire. First arriving companies found an L-shaped one-story strip mall with heavy smoke showing. Firefighters initiated an offensive attack on the fire, which was consuming an automotive parts store and two restaurants. After a half hour of offensive attack, firefighters switched to a defensive posture. Heavy streams and ladder pipes were put in operation to knock down the fire. It took 124 firefighters just over two hours to fully extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
