After a nice stay in the Methven area Nicky has a hospital visit after a fall on the ice but we then relax and enjoy Lake Camp in the Ashburton lakes district.
Recipe For the Date loaf (Which was a raisin loaf but we ran out of raisins)

2oz Butter
1/2 cup sugar
1- 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup grated apple
1 egg (beaten)
pinch salt
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup Raisins or dates
1/2 cup walnuts
Cream Butter and sugar untill light & fluffy
Add grated apple then egg, then raisins. Stir in sifted flour, baking soda, and add salt alternately with milk to make a creamy mixture.
Pour into greased loaf tin.
Bake at 350 f or 180 c for 50 -60mins.
