Land of the Lustrous was a manga that hit like a ton of bricks. After having watched the very first episode back in 2017, I instantly ordered all the available manga to read the following day. It's a manga so enthralling both visually and within its script. But today, I wanted to talk about the technique of utilising both negative and positive space that is so prevalent within the manga.
Ichikawa is a genius when crafting a style that is so simple, yet constructed in a way that cleverly uses both light and dark values for more than just your average contrast reasons.
