👉In this episode, we tackle multiple Land Rover projects—starting with fixing our friend David’s 2016 Discovery 4. His rotary shifter knob for the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission refused to rise, making the car undrivable! The problem? A stuck actuator motor in the center console. Armed with the right tools and tricks, we braved the cold weather and got it working again—right in his driveway!
Next, we prepped Vera’s well-known 2006 Discovery 3 for a windshield replacement. Since we don’t trust workshops blindly, we pre-removed several parts to make their job easier and prevent any damage. At the same time, we ensured the car was TÜV-ready, addressing minor issues before dropping it off. Success! After the workshop visit, the car passed TÜV, and we put everything back together.
Finally, we upgraded David’s Discovery 4 with a remote start system for the fuel-burning heater. With the right components—a simple antenna, a T91 receiver, and a remote from a Ford Mondeo—plus the GAP IID tool for activation, the installation was quick and effective. Now, he can preheat his car with just a button press!
