Well, it finally happened, the last flying Martin Mars leaving Sproat Lake for the last time! This WWII Era flying boat was making its second to last ever takeoff from its home base of 66 years; Sproat Lake, Port Alberni.
What is particularly interesting about this journey, other than it being the second last flight of a Martin Mars, is that the aircraft landed in Alameda, California, where it had been used as a transport aircraft for the U.S Navy back in the 1940s and 50s.
As of uploading this video, the Mars has now completed its final leg of the journey to the Pima Air and Space Museum in Arizona, when it landed on Pleasant Lake for its final flight, marking the end to a remarkable flying career spanning 80 years.
